Fraser-Pryce, drawn in lane four, and Thompson in lane five ran aggressively around the top bend and quickly separated themselves from the rest of the field. Thompson, the double Olympic sprint champion, moved ahead of Fraser-Pryce with 70 metres to go and maintained a two-metre lead to win in a world-leading 22.00 with Fraser-Pryce registering 22.22, her fastest time since her victory at the 2013 IAAF World Championships. https://www.iaaf.org/news/repo....rt/jamaican-champion

On January 3, 2009, the Shaggy and Friends concert was staged, with Shaggy as host, promoter, show producer and headliner, along with performances from a slew of local and international artistes who donated their talent for the success of the concert and to ultimately benefit the childrens hospital. An unprecedented event where cross sponsorship in media, beverages etc (eg. The Gleaner and the Observer, RJR Group and CVM TV etc) all came together as a force to help the cause. It was a magnificent team effort all around that managed to raise approximately US$270,000 which will help supply only a few of the necessary machines that the hospital so desperately requires. However, with only eight (8) weeks of planning for a show that usually would have taken months to organize, its amazing he and his team pulled it off. The Shaggy & Friends Benefit Concert was the first fundraiser of
his recently established Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation. The event is one which he intends to continue as an annual charity event.

Following the show, the foundation took on the task of sourcing the equipment for the Hospital. Working alongside the CEO, SMO and medical staff at Bustamante, we managed to narrow the list down to pieces which we could afford and would be immediately beneficial to the Hospitals functions. Finding a reputable supplier in the United States responsible for furnishing such hospitals as Jackson Memorial, we worked very closely with them and the Hospital in hopes of securing the best and most up to date refurbished and brand new equipment available. After months of research, deliberation and final selection, the equipment was purchased and arrived this August. The Shaggy & Friends Benefit Concert is slated for Saturday, January 2nd 2010.

Horace Martin Best to Rise with Jah Jah in your Heart
Live & Direct at YouTube

Horace Martin was an underrated singer who released a large number of recordings but received little recognition. He began his recording career in 1980 with Robert Palmer’s Negus Roots, releasing ‘Zuggy Zuggy’ and ‘Sweet Something’, while with the fiercely unconstrained Big Ben label he released ‘Africa Is Calling’, ‘We Are All One’, ‘Beautiful Dream’ and ‘Jah Jah Children’. Throughout the 80s he maintained a high profile as a singles artist, although he was unable to achieve crossover success. In 1985 his fortunes changed when he recorded ‘War’, produced by veteran DJ Jah Thomas over the legendary Stalag rhythm. The song led to sessions with Prince Huntley, whose print shop Modernize Printery led to the formation of his Modernize Music and Greedy Puppy labels. Huntley had recorded ‘Pressure In A Babylon’ but found greater success as a producer. Martin recorded a succession of hits for Huntley, including ‘Na Fry No Fat’, ‘Sonia’ and ‘Mi Rule’. The popularity of Patrick Andy’s ‘Sting Me A Sting’ led Martin to respond with ‘Shock Me A Shock’. In 1987 he recorded for Harold McLarty the hit ‘Type Of Loving’, which featured the fledgling DJ skills of Tiger, supported by the Riddim Kings Band. The release gave Martin the wider exposure he deserved, although this was overshadowed by the unprecedented demand for the newly acclaimed DJ. Martin followed his hit with the less successful ‘Can’t Get Used To Losing You’, which heralded a return to anonymity.
